Spin Out

Some more animation practice. I used a background from The Road To El Dorado just as a stepping off point for the animation (which rly helped) and I also used it to test out the auto colorization feature in Clip Studio. I think it looks pretty cool in the end :)

Practice:Road To El Dorado

I recently found a website called characterdesignreferences.com that had some sweet Road To El Dorado concept and production art I had never seen before. In it, I found some expression sheets. I decided to get a little animation practice in and try some inbetweening. I wasn't going for acting with these, but to make them smooth and (some what) on model.

Here is one I did of Tulio. Just a simple pose to pose. I actually like how smooth it came out ! (It was not that hard as his head doesn't move at all lol)

Here is a test of Chel from a expressions sheet (not shown) on a layout drawing from the movie. This one was way harder than Tulio because of the changing position of her head. I tried to time it out a little so it looked more natural, but I've been staring at it too long so I cant tell very well.

That means my next test is going to focus on timing !

Doodle for Google 2020

"Unconditional"
Unfortunately, I didn't get in but I am still proud of the design I came up with for the topic of "I show kindness by…" showing kindness unconditionally.

Rey-designs (get it?)

These were my first ideas off the top of my head, each of them are "too much" and "too Jedi" for my liking. But ! each of them have an inkling of aspects that I like. Particularly the mid-calf white boots, wool arm cozies, and white pants. (I also like how I drew Rey, character wise, in all of these)
Now on to my second sketch, I tried to combine Rey's Jakku look with the idea shed be on a colder planet. Turtle neck, arm cozies (again), basic pants ,boot, and a more jacket like version of her flowy scarves. Still this felt "too much/Jedi" for me. And I relized I was thinking "Jedi" (which I never liked) when I should of been thinking "Rebel". More economical, stylish, and fun. This lead to the sketch in the top corner. Combining all of the ideas I liked, It was perfect !

A little fuzzy, but this is what I came up with. I made sure she had color, Rey mentions shed "Never seen so much green in my whole life" so after the events of Ep.7 and 8, and mostly tan, grey, brown and white color pallet Id like to think shed get the opportunity to pick some new clothes for herself, and green being such a rarity in her life, well, this jumpsuit would be just what calls to her. I also make sure to stay true to Rey's design sensibility with the arm bands and light color pallet coming into play with the wool arm cozies and white Han-Solo-ish vest (More rebel than Jedi) but still having the feel of her scarves. I also made her boots a little more pointy, with a GO-GO boot feel, stylish right?  I like that this outfit still feels like Rey, but is fresh and new.

Once On This Island Costume for Ti Moune

Here is a suggestion for Ti Moune's costume for  my school's production of "Once On This Island". Simple, yet feminine, the overly large shirt grows with her into young adulthood. The sash she wears around her waist would be/represent one of the "waves" that swept her youngers self away by a flood sent by Agwe, one of the gods in the story.

Han and Leia

Felt like drawing something cute 💙
I'm currently trying to get comfortable with the brushes in Clip Studio Paint. For sketching, I'm currently using the realistic water color brush. I miss some of the old brushes I had in Autodesk sketchbook, I should try to figure out how to export them into Clip Studio...but that's such a process :/
